In August and September 2026, the newly established anti-migrant vigilante group Patriot Platform - set up by Danny Tommo - conducted a major recruitment campaign, culminating in the blocking of Dover Port and vehicles carrying asylum seekers in Portsmouth.

As the far right becomes better organised, so must we. Unions must no longer outsource anti-far right activity to external groups. We must urgently lead the fightback ourselves, in workplaces and on the streets, and cannot rely on the police for our protection.

TUFF will be holding a fringe event at the 2026 Trades Union Congress at 7pm on Tuesday 15th September in Old Palesteine House, Brighton. All trade union activists are welcome to attend.

We will discuss how we can build opposition to the far right through our unions - from the rank-and-file to general secretaries - and put pressure on our national unions to act.
